Knightrous - Previously Knightrous Wedge - Previously known as Schmackhed.
First 14 pages cover the old information leading up to 2014.
SchmackHed
My RoboWars Entry:
Rear end shaped and drive pod tack welded on
Rear View, lots of gap filling from the front armour to the drive pod.
I called it
SchmackHed
because that's all it can do, is drive into the opponent really hard and trying to break them.
Specifications as follows:
Armour:
Some really hard stuff I've had floating around for a while... Now I know why it's been floating around for a while... Too fuskin hard to shape...
Drive:
2 x AndrewMOD's with 12v motors.
Electronics:
Spektrum DX6 & Victor 883's
Batteries:
12v 2400 NiCD's, 18v 2400 NiCD's or 12v 3600NiCD's.... random packs....
Weapon:
Trash Talk and Stupidity...
6hrs work has got me this far, maybe another 6hrs will finish it off... Drives go into it tomorrow, maybe the batteries too... Was relaxing to finally have some time to get out the old stick welder and XU1 grinder and play robots...

I might be a city kid, but that sure looks like a plough disk - am I close? _________________ Australian 2015 Featherweight champion

You can have a cookie Nick. Close, but not quite. It's what's called an Offset disc(similar, but different application). They are made from an extremely hard wearplating. only 3-4mm thick, but these ones have seen 20+ years of tearing rock hard ground up on the back of a tractor all day. I've seen someone forget to lift the offsets up on a tractor when crossing a road and they just put a big 2ft trench through the road.
Very hard stuff, even when glow red hot, a sledge hammer does very little. I'm interested in seeing how it goes against robots though. In short, I'll call it Farm Steel. _________________ https://www.halfdonethings.com/

Progress
Electronics tray, 2 bolts and 3 plugs and the whole radio and speed controllers come out on one lot. I used Anderson 45Amp plugs for a change, I'm beginning to like them already. The RX battery and DX6 Spektrum RX are ziptied to the tray. Easiest way to do it. Just need to trim the Victor 24" reciever leads to about 4", add the RX switch and it's finished. Eventually I'll look at getting my hand onto one of those S-BEC's, but for the price, I'll wait to see how good they perform in Jolt, Cobra & Elenor before spending the cash.
I've ordered two brand new Triton 2's and a bunch more Andersons. Still waiting for my 8 x 12v motors and gear puller to arrive from BaneBots. _________________ https://www.halfdonethings.com/

At least it’s not a box. Looks like an awful lot of weight on the front skid, Drive wheels look a bit vulnerable to.

Is that speaker wire? Will be interesting to see how that goes. _________________ Get Some!!!

@Andrew: The speaker is the same as Brett used in Scoopy and IG, he hasn't melted any of the stuff and the insulation seems to survive against the soldering iron farly well, so I'll see how it lasts.
@Gary: Yeah, there is going to be a lot of weight on the front end, but I didn't want the nose lifting like most other wedges do (Cheese, Cobra and T2M are perfect examples) and I don't quite have the space to build a full blown bogie setup like SS Rat. The wheels may or may not be exposed, I have a section of the offset disc I cut off the back that I can cut and "attempt" to shape into some wheel guards. They might end up hinged on rubber too so I can actually change wheels if they are damaged.
Yes, I thought the weight might keep the nose down and that could work for you.
Looks like it could be effective at countering Totally Offensive clones.

Jake, since you've looked in here, any chance of getting 2 or 4 blue squidgy wheels off you? $50 a pair still? I'll even pay a bonus $20 if you can have them here before Xmas I'll have some photos up tonight of todays progress on SchmackHed.... _________________ https://www.halfdonethings.com/

I wonder what that bit of steel is for
Motors half mounted with wheels
Front view
Rear view
Top view
The piece of disc I cut off, I'll recycled this into some extra tough wheel guards and bracing.

That's amazingly fast progress Aaron, I look forward to chewing on those wheels at Robowars . Is the design invertable? With at least one good flipper in the comp, you could be doing a turtle impression in no time.. _________________ Australian 2015 Featherweight champion

Looks to me like it would actually drive better upside down.
