Scooter Motors

How many hors power are the 200watt scooter motors?

Would i get the same power and runtime out of an ev warrior running at 12v?

How do you work out the mph on any vehicle?Like your rpm of the motor and the tyer size

well 750w in a horsepower so go figure.

note 200w is probably continuous power. max power is probably much higher. its probably the same as an ev, but just is easier to mount.

So i could run an ev at 12v and get the same power as a 200watt scooter motor running at 24v

Rpm > Speed is simple. Multiply the RPM of the wheel (taking into account any reduction in gears) by the circumference of the wheel and multiply the result by 60 (to convert the minutes of rpM into the hours of the common speed units).

Dont forget to change the tyre circumference measurement into whatever units you want the speed in first. ie. dont measure the tyre circumference in centimeters and expect to get miles per hour out. you have to change the tyre circ. into miles (which will be a small fraction of a mile) first.

So

250rpm times 20 inches =5000

What next?

Did you bother to read past step 1 of my post ? Rolling Eyes

Unless you want the speed in inches per hour, you have to change the circumference measurement into the units you want. since you measured in inches, we will assume (imperial) miles here..

There are 12 inches to a foot, and 3 feet to a yard, and 1760 yards to a mile. so there are 63,360 inches in one mile.

if your wheel is turning 250rpm, then it is covering 5000 inches a minute as you figured out. so multiply that by 60 (minutes), and you get 300,000 inches per hour.

Divide that by 63,360 (inches to miles) and you get 4.7mph.

I didnt know the

12 inches to a foot, and 3 feet to a yard, and 1760 yards to a mile. so there are 63,360 inches in one mile.

part thats why i couldent calculate the rest
i did read the secong part of the post but didnt know the rest of the calculations

well, you didnt specify what units you wanted to start with (I assumed inperial after your post), so I wasnt going to list all the possible conversion factors for every unit.. Confused

about 3 seconds work of typing "inches to miles" into google gave me the numbers I needed.

Ever heard the saying about teaching a man to fish ?

I think it goes:

Give a man a fish & it will feed him for a day,

Teach a man to fish & he will sit in a boat & sink piss all day.

Maybe it lost something in the translation from the ancient chinese?? Laughing

LOL

anyway back onto scooter motors, ive got more questions.

1) with those power drive kits, are you supplied with an axle of some sort??
2) is there any other way to mount the motors than the bolt holes in the front? can you clamp the motor.
3) are you SURE they will take 36v (brett or gary)
4) (brett) will the IBC take 3x 12v SLAs fully charged?

The IBC should cope with 36v without a problem.

We havent actually run any of our own bots on 36v yet though, but it uses the same regulator as the MC1 and RS80 and the same drive circuit as the OSMC and they're all rated for 36v operation. I did test some motors at 36v on the bench with an IBC when I designed it and it was all ok. (The drill motor was *not* happy about it though.. Laughing you should have seen the arcs from the brushes !)

I have no idea if the scooters will take it though.. they should since they're designed to lug you down to the milk bar and back at 24v, so 36v shouldnt be pushing it too much.. perhaps gary can offer an opinion ?

When my scooter motors eventually arrive, I will probably make a set of UHMW mounts like the drill motor ones, that will clamp around the motor body. Since this could still allow the motor to twist around, I will probably need to incorporate a face mount in the front mounting block it would look a bit like this:

Only in plastic, not ali.
