Wiper motors???

Hello All

I am new to these forums and would like to get some advice from the pro's.
I am building a wheeled robot not just for robowas as it may be used for paint ball tank battles as well.
Here some of the specs

it will hopefully be powered with a falcon wiper motor and 4 SLA alarm batteries but I'm not sure wether it will have enough power to push my robot along and up hill and things. (Dose anyone have any Idea how much grunt these things have?)
Onboard 450Mhz, P3, 256M ram, WIFI video feeds
Wiper motor steering using a kit from OE
Push mower wheels

For my next problem dose anyone know what I can use to make the chassis out of? I found an old rover self propelled frame withe the bearings axel and everything else on it (yay I don't have to build it)

Any suggestion or comments will be greatly appreciated

thanks
Simon

Yes sounds like you have some ideas. A single wiper motor is probably not big enough to push anything carrying 4 sla batteries. Also most people use tanks steering instead because it easier to setup. Finally I'm not sure how well the WIFI will go and it usually isnt practical for a combat robot.

Do you have any ideas for a weight class?

The best thing to do would probably go have a look at some of the robots in your local area if you can.

The ford ww motors are around 50-60 watts and geared about 63 to one from memory they do around 37-38 rpm on 12 volts the average mower wheel is around 145 -150mm dia --- so will travel aproximatly 500mm distance per revelution your robot will travel along at about 1.2kilometers per hour with that motor and that sized wheel ---- as for pushing it should easily move 30 kgs up a 25 degree incline at that speed .

The limiting factor is the plastic gear braking, wiper motors are normally timed in one direction, which can be a problem to.

They will overvolt tremendously as they are so low stressed stock but this just aggravates the gear braking problem.

Lawnmower moved OK on 2 wipers at 24 and 36 volts but broke gears.

Lawnmower is a 4 WD middleweight weighing a full 50 kg.

Lawnmower is the name of a robot.

4 x 7Ah batteries should last all day if you are only using one motor.

Don't buy those monster servo kits... They are more trouble then they are worth. Been there, blew them up... I believe Jeff F has a pair as well which he fried too....
