Okay, i was very dissapointed with the pushing power of IHE yesterday so i have desided to rebuild the shell agian to make it heavier. lol The base is 4mm steel checkerplate and the sides are 3/4" choppingboard.

Nice to see your bots coming together over there.

You might want to see about making a couple of washers out of UHMW (or chopping board on a budget), use a nylock that you can set the tension on and make a slipping clutch to drive your weapon with. Either that, or rig up a friction drive rubber wheel and a second shaft for the bar.

It might help the weapon motor survive hits. Direct Drive Bars mean your motor will not be long for this world when it hits something solid otherwise.

It's a pretty strong motor actualy, and has a 10mm shaft!
It survived our little 4 bot event... so should do with the bot's his got up thar.
But yeah, upgrade for robowars yeah?

Plus its a titanium bar I think, so pretty thin and light, should be fine

Saw Blades are not the same as Bars.

I.G. ran a saw blade for ages with only occasional problems with its angle-grinder gears. The moment I bolted a bar-shaped blade on, the gears were shredded within a few hits.

Bars create far greater shock and side loads than a saw blade does, and as mentioned, even a saw blade can bend shafts on occasion.

10mm is pretty good, provided the bar is mounted down low on the shaft and has good bearing support, But direct drive bars still arent a good idea long-term.

Anyway, its just a tip for him to a think about, not an "OMG, Fix that now".

Also some motors like EV’s use plain bushes that are round and only held in place with a spring clip, they pop out really easily. Scooter motors have proper ball bearings so they can take more side load.
