True, and the brush holders are impossible to get out, despite what the US forums say about heating them:(. I figure that if heating it until it catches fire doesn't work, that I have to Dremel the holder out. Let's face it, there is NO perfect robot motor; they all have a weakness somewhere! I think the Dewalts are the best value for money in a smaller motor and the brush problem can easily be bypassed. If only they had longer shafts...

I like the Astroflights because you can buy every bit in the motor seperately. They arn't perfect, but they have double ball raced bearings in them, cooling holes, and pack some bawls behind them...

for the price of a new armature for them you could just buy a brand new dewalt anyway lol and you can get replacble brushes for them too which i might need damn soon...

and jeffs method of bolting the motor mounts into the frame = bad. team delta kids = good amazingly. gives some nice shock mounting.

Does any one know if the pinnion on the Dewalt 18V drill is a standard size? It would be very handy if you could get a standard sized first stage gear to match up with it.
