Query of "Common" Weight classes of NSW

I dunno who to ask here, and I've tried going
through the builders reports but I still cant figure what is the most
"common" or popular weight class of active Bots in NSW?

Not many of the reports state their weight class in an easy
to find format like a stats page, and it trakes ages to try
and crowbar the information from the rankings. Embarassed

I'd like to know as my bot is about to leave the pages of
CAD and enter the real world as an MDF prototype ,
but I'm still somewhat at a loss as to its eventual weight... Shocked

So what sort of numbers do we have in NSW for Light
and Middle weights. Im planning on Light but I will probably
splurge badly into Middleweight . Evil or Very Mad ..... Twisted Evil

Its also my first battlebot so its going to need some re-working
before it is remade Full-Metal-Jacket. Razz

Thanks guys

The most popular weight class in NSW is featherweight ( 13.6kgs ) without a doubt , I haven't heard of many light weights or middlewights in the making in NSW .

Featherweights (13.6kg or 30lb) is the natioally most common built class right now with over 40 active bots.

Lightweights are heavily restricted to demos, non-spinning weapons and there are less then 4 active lightweight bots...

Build a featherweight and work on putting some bigger designs and parts away for a lightweight Wink There isn't going to be a sudden rush for people to go into building middle/heavyweights because there just are no $20000 arenas to support those sized robots. Also, who can honestly afford to spend $2000+ (yeah, that's an accurate figure) building a mid/heavyweight to fight yourself....

Indeed, if you want to compete next event, it'll need to be a featherweight, or beetleweight. Smile

Every robot on the ranking page is a feather weight. Since we have only had 2 official fights in the light weight class and none in any other class I don't think I need to add any more tables yet. No matter how hard I tried to rig the draw its a shame we didn't get any 1 on 1 light weight fights at RoboWars III.

I actually think light weights are easier to build and more fun then feathers.

Aaron's post makes it sound like we've resitricted the number of light weights to 4. Or is that just the way I read it?

This is a list of weight classes. Feather weight is the only class with regular events in Australia..

WOW ! So many people care!

Many thanks to all for the many and rapid responses to my query Very Happy

And a special thanx to Ajax for the Wiki link, that was almost
exactly what I was looking for. Actual numbers would have been
better but likely to be a Bi*ch to keep accurate. Wink

If I may be so bold to make a suggestion to the Webmaster of the
Robowars WEB page, could the Wiki link be inserted onto the
'www.robowars.org/info-rules.html' page near the weight classes
so noobs like me can find it easier. If so, thanks. Embarassed

Anyways, it looks like my bot will have to go into the sauna for a
while, I was expecting about 30kg before weight shaving.
Hell, the weapon motor is 6kg on its own, add a
weapon blade of 8-9kg and still get into 13kg?!?!? Shocked

Methinks some serious re-scaling is required. Glad it never made it
out of CAD before I found this out. I was trying to save bucks by using
available junk(read spares) but it all looks to be too bulky now. Mad

Dammnit there goes another 3 months of redesign. I can always
rescale up later if lightweights get more active or if my baby simply
splatters all the feather-weights... Rolling Eyes

Anyway, thanks again to all for their quick and helpful replies Very Happy
