Tracks made out of hinges are also called skis.

Your robot can also be used as a hockey puck or bowling ball. Cool

Shocked grabbed them? I think you underestimate the sheer weight in a track like that.

Also I cannot think of a good use for a single couple of hundred kilo track hehe

unless you had a very steep hill to get it rolling down.... and then let it smash stuff hehe

Thought he might have put it in the back of his car or something.

Could use the rubber off it cut it into blocks and make them into smaller tracks like george did maby.

the rubber is pretty awesome, i wanted some for armour. its odd how there built...

sort of like the steel guides have the rubber moulded around them and then there is steel cable running around the track under the rubber.

when we rent a flat bed truck lol

Here is a video that proves that you can get some speed out of home made tracks:

That link brought up a "file cannot be found" message, so I dug the correct link out for you. http://www.killsometime.com/video/video.asp?ID=144 Very nifty indeed.

Cool tank video Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy
But do we have a weight class in Oz it will fit into?

As for using the rubber tank track for armour,
wouldnt it be a bit heavy?
Maybe if you carved up a steel-belted car tyre
it would be pretty axe/spike and impact resistant....

Hmmm, how long since I have had a flat in the car...
Do I REALLY need a spare all the time... Twisted Evil

Tank tracks.... What about if you wanted to keep the bot low. Could this be an application to use them in? Say some timing pulleys, timing belt and glue some rubber onto the belt. Add some extra rollers in between the pulleys to keep to rubber down(on the ground).

Using tank tracks could you keep the height low, but still get a good amount of rubber on the ground?

Or just use small wheels?

Oddly enough have already started building something very similar.
Probably a few weeks away from starting a thread on this.
