The junkyard arena is not structually sound enough for heavyweights at this point . 10mm lexan and MDF will not restrain debris from a heavyweight bot.
Movable barrels are good for competiton as they add another dimension to the fight, but you would need to be carefull to not fill the arena with junk and restrict the fight . Bots need to win by good driving , tactics , construction and luck - not lose by getting caught on too many artifacts in the arena . Sidetracked arena could only have 2x5 gal drums before it became to restrictive . If barrels are to be in one arena they need to be allowed in both
Enjoy

What is wrong with arenas being different to each other ?

It's kind of good having different arenas (both obstacle and size differences)... keeps it kind of personalised.

I like the idea of having objects to push into spinners, it'll give pushy-bots a whole new advantage.

I recon we should get hold of a big petrol can (empty of coarse!). Smile
Also, is a button activated pit worth the effort? Confused
Juct lifting out on of the tiles in marayong would be so much easier.

if we where to have a pit id be all for a little button, that would youd be required to actually activate it yourself and so show some driving skill.

if we did have one itd need to be enclosed totally, like a little square bucket thing that dropped into a hole... otherwise if jolt got pitted itd start ripping the underside of the arena apart which aint a good thing.

id love a pit, but looking from the driveless peoples perspective im not sure itd be fair to everyone

i was saying before we could just have a raised pit which would work well on so many levels. its basically a hollow pyramid shape with the top cut off. so to get someone in it you need to have power to force them up INTO the pit, and if your fast enough you can just dive over it all together....

Glen's volcano shaped pit idea has merit.

Obstacles are good for some fun but I woulddn't like to see them as a main part of the event.

Unless it is something like King of the hill or an obstacle course as a drivers test or something like that

lol, me and my sister used to attach pins to those mini rc cars and see who could pop the most air filled ballons! Seriously, glen has a design for a featherweight "KILL SAW" like in battlebots using fan motors and bike pumps. What i hate is things that a remote person activates. They should be activated by a switch in the arena, so that one bot could activate it to get the other. (sort of like the pit in robot wars.) Very Happy

A simple killsaw would be a car starter motor with a saw blade welded to it Twisted Evil

I could see a few bots coming out worse for wear Smile
