That exhaust place sound like they are the right price. How does it cope with isolated holes? I would need a stack of 4mm holes around the edge of the armour plates.

Glen and Jeff F. both came up with laser cutting places too. with that many shops doing it, pricing must be competitive, you would think.

we had a bunch of parts made up for a rocket. 3mm ali i think it was, probbly 15-20 parts or so.

I think the whole cost was around $100-150
(from allied)

i believe the way its charged is laser on time is one rate, head movement is one rate, and laser power is a multiplier on laser on time.
it all gets added and multiplied and your done.

i think all of those are in the range of a few $ per second / meter and cutting speed is around 15+ cm/sec
note though that hole cutting is slower, they first need to penitrate the sheet then cut the hole out.

Small holes don't seem to work too well with their system, and they'd require manual setting up for each one because all it does is follow the line.

On parts needing small holes I've just had the main shape laser cut, then drilled the holes separately.
