convertable roof hydraulics pump

Quick comments on those quad rings: I needed a low friction seal for a work project and tested a whole bunch of seals in different scenarios, such as small cord, large section, hard, soft, PTFE coated ...

Word of warning: just because there're no sliding seals, doesn't mean there're no seals to wear out. From what I've heard the pipes can often fail from the repeated flexing. At least it'll be cheap to ...

PostForum: Builders Reports   Posted: Tue Apr 21, 2015 9:31 am   Subject: shrinking and sliding
Aluminium has a higher coefficient of thermal expansion than steel, so cooling it makes the aluminium shrink more than the steel. cooling it 40degree should make it shrink apart by about 10microns, Is ...

PostForum: Builders Reports   Posted: Wed Dec 31, 2014 9:38 am   Subject: Impact load
I would guess the impact load to be yield stress * bite * width of contact.

So if you're hitting aluminium (yield ~500N/mm^2 for 7075) with a 5mm bite x 50mm long, you have 500N/mm^2 x 250mm^2, so ...

I think its possible to coax the pot into giving values in the range you're looking for just by using some biasing resistors.

If you put a resistor in series with the pistol throttle pot between th ...

I did an analysis of a spinning weapon's gyro effect for a school coursework way back when.

IIRC, if you're trying to maximise energy then a smaller, faster weapon will have a smaller gyro effect f ...

We have the same problem at work sometimes (we've got small lathe and only occasionally need to machine stainless).
Stainless work hardens very quickly and can get really tough to cut. I find the sli ...

PostForum: Builders Reports   Posted: Mon Jun 13, 2011 12:49 am   Subject: bumpiness
Intuitively I would have thought that 'bumpiness' is directly related to how much torque it can carry. Restoring force is related to how much the field volume (energy) changes by as you rotate the dis ...

FYI: generally, the thinner the glue line, the stronger it is. In this instance I'd probably aim for ~0.2mm on diameter, inject the glue first, push the magnet in and make sure that it squirted out ev ...

I think what you need is a controller with a a brake feature - ie the outputs are shorted together. Coast mode leaves them floating. I'm not sure if a scorpion mini can have brake enabled.
